Lead, connect, and strengthen the Queen’s alumni community


ROLE OVERVIEW

The Alumni Branch Young and Recent Alumni Engagement Lead is a volunteer leader who helps bring Queen’s alumni engagement to life in their city by focusing on alumni in the early stages of their post-graduation journey. Working collaboratively with a dedicated team of volunteer leaders, the Queen’s University Alumni Association (QUAA) Board of Directors, and Queen’s Advancement and Alumni Strategy staff, this role helps create relevant, welcoming experiences that foster connection and long-term engagement.

The Young and Recent Alumni Engagement Lead supports the branch strategy by growing early-stage alumni participation and momentum through targeted programming and outreach, within Advancement-led strategies and planning frameworks. In partnership with branch leadership and staff, this role helps ensure young and recent alumni feel connected, included, and motivated to stay engaged with the Queen’s alumni community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Program Coordination: Lead the planning and delivery of at least one Young or Recent Alumni–focused activity per year.
  • Young Alumni Programming: Create ideas for events, activities, and touchpoints that resonate with young and recent alumni.
  • Targeted Outreach: Build awareness among young alumni through tailored communication and personal outreach.
  • Volunteer Pathways: Support recruitment of young alumni into volunteer roles and future branch leadership.
  • Advisory Insight: Share perspectives on trends, interests, and preferences of recent graduates to inform branch planning.
  • Collaborative Promotion: Work closely with the Communications Lead to promote youth-focused programming.

KEY PARTNERS

  • Co-President(s): Align programming priorities and ensure integration with broader branch goals.
  • Alumni Engagement Officer (Staff Partner): Receive strategic guidance and support for segment-focused engagement.
  • Communications and Marketing Lead: Collaborate on promotion and storytelling for young alumni events.
  • Philanthropy and Partnerships Lead: Coordinate on impact or giving-back elements where appropriate.

  • Creativity and enthusiasm for building community
  • Comfort speaking with peers and initiating outreach

TIME COMMITMENT

Approximately 4–6 hours per month, with the potential to vary with event cycles. The Youth and Recent Alumni Lead is appointed for a two-year term which may be renewed by the Branch and Alumni Strategy team.
