On May 10, 2025, the ORF CEC-REN participated in Kingston’s annual Science Rendezvous event, engaging with local residents through a series of  interactive and educational activities for families. This outreach initiative aimed to spark public interest in emerging environmental contaminants in water and promote public awareness of both advancements and limitations of current waste disposal methods, and methods of contaminant detection and treatment.
We were pleased to welcome a wide range of visitors to our booth, where members of our team shared insights into our current research and facilitated hands-on demonstrations that explored the impacts of aquatic contaminants on ecosystems and public health.
CEC-REN extends its sincere thanks to Youth Outreach and Education Coordinators, Prama Roy and Rachel Korchinsky, and our dedicated volunteers, namely, Christine Hoskin, Kunj Patel, Nitya Shah, Nicole Subryan, Aeriana Narbonne, Amanda Ales, and Jenika Hazell, whose time and enthusiasm were essential in the success of this event.
We are grateful to the Kingston community for its interest and engagement, and we look forward to continuing these conversations and collaborations in future outreach events.
