Jessie is currently a Ph.D. student in the Faculty of Education at 黄色视频. Her research brings together her passion for educational equity and her interests in writing instruction and digital technology. She earned her MA in English from Brock University, and her Master鈥檚 Thesis, , won the 2025 Canadian Society for the Study of Higher Education鈥檚 (CSSHE) Most Outstanding Master鈥檚 Thesis or Project award.

Jessie is dedicated to supporting the development of sustainable policies in higher education that are responsive to the needs of learners and educators alike. Prior to the public launch of generative AI applications like ChatGPT, academic writing instruction served as the focus of her work. Currently, Jessie鈥檚 research explores how generative AI has, is, and will impact the academic lives of higher education students and faculty. She is especially interested in student-led and student-supported developments in programming, resources, and policies around generative AI in education.

Jessie has held various academic support roles (writing coach, tutor, workshop facilitator, drop-in academic support, teaching assistant) for over half a decade. Student experience has always been and will remain at the heart of her academic and professional interests. In her capacity as a tutor and workshop facilitator, Jessie has primarily worked with first-generation, international, and multilingual students. Jessie is also a member of the Literacy Education Research Team, led by Dr. Pamela Beach, and the Queen鈥檚 Education Library Advisory Committee.

In her role as an Educational Development Associate with the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL), Jessie brings her expertise in writing pedagogy, educational equity, and the evolving impacts of generative AI on higher education. She is committed to supporting graduate students, Teaching Assistants, and Teaching Fellows in fostering inclusive, student-centered learning environments. Jessie aims to help these educators build confidence in their teaching through workshops and resources centred on skills development and self-reflexive practice.
