    Description:

    Dev Diwali is regarded as the kalyanaks of many of the Tirthankaras or Pathfinders. There are five Kalyanaks - conceivement, birth, diksha (ordainment), enlightenment and moksha. Shjrimadji (Jain Saint); Lokanshah (founder of non-idol worshiper group called Sthanakvasi of the Swetamber sect); and, Hemchandracharya (Jain Scholar) were born on this day. Dev Diwali marks the end of the Diwali celebrations and the end of the four month monsoon season (Chaturmas). It is also considered to be an auspicious time for pilgrimage to the sacred sites associated with the Jain religion.-----

    Founder of the Sikh faith and first of the Ten Gurus, Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born in 1469 CE. He was an accomplished poet; 974 of his hymns are contained in the Sikh Scriptures, the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Religious accommodation for special worship may be required for this observance/holy day.
