The Dr Andrew and Margaret Bruce Endowment for Visiting Scholars in Surgical Innovation - Dr. Alison Noble (Oxford, UK)
4:30 PM – 5:30 PM
The Evolving Role of AI in Ultrasound
Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly reshaping medical ultrasound, a field long reliant on the skill of highly trained sonographers. Drawing on research from my group, this lecture will show how modern video and multi-modal deep‑learning methods can automatically analyse ultrasound video, interpret subtle acoustic patterns, and support clinicians during scanning and diagnosis. These tools offer new ways to understand expert technique and extract information beyond what the eye can see. As AI systems begin to enter real clinical environments, they also raise important questions about reliability, trust, and how humans and AI should make decisions together. This talk will explore both the opportunities and the challenges this poses to integrating AI‑enhanced ultrasound into everyday healthcare.
The »ÆÉ«ÊÓƵ Speaker Series is supported by the Dr. Andrew and Margaret Bruce Endowment for Visiting Scholars in Surgical Innovation.
Light refreshments and snacks will be available. This is a hybrid event.
