Dr. Peter Doran, Professor of Geology and Geophysics and John Franks Endowed Chair at Louisiana State University is an American-Canadian Earth scientist whose research has significantly advanced understanding of polar climates, ecosystems, and their relevance to planetary science.
A specialist in Antarctic environmental change, Doran led the influential 2002 Nature study documenting regional cooling trends in Antarctica, later clarifying the findings' misuse in public debates on global warming.
His work on scientific consensus in climate research, including a 2009 study demonstrating that over 97% of active climate scientists agree on human-drive climate change, has been foundational in communicating climate science to broader audiences.
