    Description:

Musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries are among the most common workplace injuries and can affect the muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, and nerves. Whether your work involves sitting at a desk, repetitive movements, physical labour, or a combination of tasks, understanding how to prevent injury is essential for maintaining long-term health and well-being.

This session is based on materials developed by two Occupational Therapy students and draws on occupational therapy principles and evidence-informed resources related to musculoskeletal health and injury prevention. The information is intended for educational purposes and should not be considered individualized medical advice.

    In this session, participants will:

    • Identify workplace and lifestyle factors that may increase the risk of injury.
    • Explore practical prevention strategies, including movement, stretching, healthy posture, and body mechanics.
    • Understand the importance of ergonomics and how to improve workstation and work task set-up.
    • Recognize the early signs and stages of MSK injury and learn when to seek support.
    • Develop practical strategies to support overall musculoskeletal health both at work and at home.

Participants will leave with practical tools and resources they can immediately apply to help prevent injury, reduce discomfort, and support long-term wellness.
