As part of the year-long Stauffer@25 celebration, the »ÆÉ«ÊÓƵ Library is hosting a Stauffer@25 Speaker Series that will explore Indigenous topics and themes, as well as the evolution of the library's knowledge environment in the context of equity, diversity, and inclusion. The Speaker Series is generously funded by the Stauffer Foundation.

The first speaker is Tanya Talaga, an Indigenous activist, journalist, and author, who will give a lecture entitled Rights Before We Talk Reconciliation: The Reality of Canada’s Relationship with Indigenous People. 

Tanya Talaga is the author of Seven Fallen Feathers, which was the winner of the RBC Taylor Prize, the Shaughnessy Cohen Prize for Political Writing, and the First Nation Communities Read Award: Young Adult/Adult; a finalist for the Hilary Weston Writers’ Trust Nonfiction Prize and the BC National Award for Nonfiction; CBC’s Nonfiction Book of the Year, a Globe and Mail Top 100 Book, and a national bestseller.

She is also the author of the national bestseller All Our Relations: Finding The Path Forward. For more than 20 years, Talaga has been a journalist at the Toronto Star and is now a columnist at the newspaper.
