    Talk and Q&A with Visiting Professor of Disability Rights, David Lepofsky

    Description:

    Join the International Centre for the Advancement of Community Based Rehabilitation (ICACBR) for a talk and question and answer session with one of Canada's most prominent disability rights lawyers, David Lepofsky.

    Mr. Lepofsky, currently a visiting professor of disability rights at the Faculty of Law at »ÆÉ«ÊÓÆµ, will be sharing his thoughts on using research for concrete change in the lives of persons with disabilities, how he has used research in his own advocacy work, and the most important suggestions he has for researchers who want their work to be relevant to and inform policy change. He will then answer questions and engage in conversation with attendees.

    All welcome. No registration necessary.

     

    Bio: One of Canada’s most prominent blind lawyers, he advocates for the enactment and implementation of new legislation in Ontario to remove and prevent barriers against people with physical, mental, or sensory disabilities. One of his missions is to educate law students on how to effectively serve the legal needs of clients with disabilities. Among various volunteer leadership roles in the disability community, David is chair of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act Alliance and a member and chair of the Toronto District School Board’s Special Education Advisory Committee.
