Much like an air traffic control system manages the arrival and departure of airplanes on multiple runways, our brains have an air traffic control system. It's called the 'Executive Functioning System'. This system helps us organize and keep track of information, keep our attention focused on a task, control our impulses, and set goals. All of these skills are crucial for learning and student achievement, and for many of our exceptional students, these skills need to be explicitly taught.
