Biography
Sama Abri is a PhD candidate in Geography and Planning at Queen’s University and a registered Architect AIBC. Her research focuses on housing governance, community land trusts, Indigenous-led housing systems, and infrastructure planning in northern and remote communities. Working under the supervision of Dr. Julia Christian and contributing to the At Home in the North research initiative, her work examines how governance, land relationships, and emerging technologies can support equitable, resilient, and culturally grounded housing futures. Drawing from professional experience in architecture, capital projects, and infrastructure delivery, her research bridges theory and practice to explore innovative approaches to housing affordability, community ownership, and self-determination.
