Public history is an emerging field in history which takes form based on the interest of the individual public historian. This course will introduce students to the field of public history, the intersection of public history and heritage, the theories that shape the field, and the many hats that a public historian wears.

Through an exploration of themes, histories, and narratives and exploring how heritage has developed in Canada students will develop new historical and practical skills. Students will come away from this class with hands-on heritage experience as well as the ability to challenge constructed identities from cities, museums, and heritage sites.
