Opening Event at the McDonald Institute at Queen’s University on the evening of July 27th at 5:30 PM, for the unveiling of a new mural in Stirling Hall by artists Will Morin and Quinn Hopkins.

The 18’ mural spans the width of the main foyer and is presented as both a physical installation and an interactive, Augmented Reality experience. The piece explores the past, present and future of Anishinaabe knowledge and astroparticle physics research.

There will be a catered reception at 5:30 PM in the foyer area, followed by short talks from the artists at 6:15 PM. The event is open to the public, so feel free to extend this invitation to others who may be interested.

��ɫ��Ƶ the artists:
Will Morin is of Ojibwa/Scottish and French-Canadian ancestry and is a member of the Michipicoten First Nation. He is an educator and a visual/performance artist living and working in Sudbury.

Quinn Hopkins (Mixed Ojibwe, non-status) is an interdisciplinary artist blending urban Indigenous experiences with digital futurism. His immersive installations and digital artworks explore ancestral storytelling, technological innovation and cultural resurgence.

*Rescheduled* July 30 Topic: Working Through Fear - A discussion on moving through the fear of shame, discomfort, or misunderstanding in the pursuit of meaningful allyship, relationship-building, and reconciliation

Join us monthly throughout the summer for continued Elder Talk sessions, with Cultural Advisor Te ho wis kwûnt - Allen (Al) Doxtator.
Al originates from Oneida Nation of the Thames, and is a member of the Bear Clan.

Elder Talk sessions are an opportunity to learn from our Cultural Advisor and explore Indigenous worldviews, with a safe space to ask questions after each session. Please come with a good mind and a willingness to listen and learn to all parts of the sessions.

Sessions will be hybrid in MacCorry E202 + Zoom, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. *Please note: while most sessions will be offered both online and in person, some sessions may be online only. Please ensure you register for the sessions you wish to attend to be notified of any event updates with correct location and topic information.

*Open to all ��ɫ��Ƶ community (staff, faculty, students, alumni, etc.)

Join us Thursday, May 14, 2026 as we recognize Moose Hide Campaign Day on campus. We will be gathering in Tsi Yakwanahstahsontéhrha - the place where we extend the rafters (Outdoor Indigenous Gathering Space) for a community fire.

��ɫ��Ƶ: The Moose Hide Campaign began as a BC-born Indigenous-led grassroots movement to engage men and boys in ending violence towards women and children. It has since grown into a nationwide movement of Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians from local communities, First Nations, governments, schools, colleges/universities, police forces and many other organizations – all committed to taking action to end this violence.

Please join us for a Walk for Peace on Wednesday, April 8, beginning at 9 am. With Haudenosaunee values and teachings in mind, and following teachings of the Great Law of Peace, the Office of Indigenous Initiatives has planned a Walk for Peace. We are hoping to bring the ��ɫ��Ƶ community together to support peace around the world.

Please meet at the Four Directions Indigenous Student Centre between 8:50-9:00 am to begin the walk. The walk will conclude at the Outdoor Indigenous Gathering Space.

There will be a Community Fire for Peace and the Good Mind following the walk. If you are unable to participate in the walk, please feel free to still join us for the community fire.

All ��ɫ��Ƶ community members - students, staff, faculty and alumni - are welcome to join.
