Dr. Carlos Escobedo, Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, Smith Engineering, was in Mexico City promoting the Mexico-Canada Research & Learning Hub (the Hub) in his capacity as academic co-lead. 

Dr. Escobedo attended meetings with Deputy Director Deni Tanibe Zenteno Gomez at the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID) from Mexico's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) that is responsible for coordinating and promoting Mexico's international development cooperation efforts, and with Yazmin Arias, Trade Commissioner and Academic Affairs Officer, Global Affairs Canada at the Embassy of Canada to Mexico in Mexico City, where they discussed different avenues to enhance bi-lateral academic cooperation.

He also visited Universidad Iberoamericana where he was able to present the Hub and discuss the possibility of initiating talks on potential new programs that facilitate student and faculty mobility, as well as dual degree programs, with colleagues including Dr. Andr茅s Guillermo Molano Jimenez, Head of the Department of Engineering for Innovation, Dr. Alicia Parra Carriedo, Director of Research and Graduate Studies, Dr. Jorge Angel Gonzalez Ordiano, director of INIAT, and Prof. Jose Luis Urrusti. The visit concluded with the delivery of a masterclass in microtechnology at La Salle University where he met with Mtra. Rosario Escalada, VP Global Engagement, and Mtro. Carlos Herrera, Head of the Faculty of Engineering, to discuss initiating academic collaborations and opportunities to engage with the Mexico-Canada Research & Learning Hub.
