The McDonald Institute is celebrating the launch of the Beading Astroparticle Physics project, an initiative that brings Indigenous Knowledges and Perspectives (IKP) and astroparticle physics into conversation. Grounded in Indigenous leadership and relational ethics, the project reimagines how astroparticle physics can explore, understand, and relate to the universe.

  As part of the Free Seminar Series of the Master’s Program in Portuguese as a Non-Native Language at the School of Languages, Arts and Human Sciences (ELACH - Escola de Línguas, Artes e Ciências Humanas) at the University of Minho (Portugal), António Macedo delivered a seminar entitled “Practical Workshop on Intercultural Communication” on 16 April.

I am happy to share that I co-edited a special topics issue of "The Germanic Review: Literature, Culture, Theory", on "Minimalist Lifestyle Practices in Contemporary German-Language Literature"  together with Karin Krauthausen. This special topics issue explores how recent German-language literary texts engage with minimalist cultural practices and lifestyle choices, such as decluttering, gardening, or living in small spaces.

This qualitative study investigates how wampum theories inform Rotinonhsón:ni Land-based immersion schools and Indigenous research methodologies. Colonization has caused significant loss of Rotinonhsón:ni language and wampum knowledge, marginalizing our ways of knowing compared to Eurocentric education. This study uses an Indigenous research framework based on the Kentyohkwahnhákstha circle wampum. The methodology mirrors the Rotinonhsón:ni Grand Council deliberation process.

“Nya’teká:yen tsi yonhrónkha’” is a term used by first-language Onkwehonwehnéha (Mohawk Language) speakers to describe a person who is a gifted orator, characterized as a learner’s polished and refined (Green, 2017) language use.

Indian Day Schools are the most widespread yet least understood institutions of Canada’s colonial education system. Operating for over a century in First Nations communities across the country, these schools were central to federal efforts to assimilate Indigenous children while maintaining closer ties to families and communities than residential schools. Despite their scale and impact, day schools have received far less historical attention.
