Gary Kinsman on Remembering Resistance: Lessons Learned and Effective Responses to Far-Right Attacks on Queer and Trans Communities

 - Refreshments and socializing from 5:30 - 6 pm

This event will provide participants with the opportunity to learn about the rich history of queer organizing, meet like minded people, while also strategizing on ways to build organizing networks and resistance in the wake of the "1 Million March 4 Children" and other threats facing queer and trans communities.

Gary Kinsman was involved in the Gay Liberation Movement and AIDS-related activism in the 1970s and 80s, as well as the Gay Liberation Union, and Gay Liberation Against the Right Everywhere. He was a founder of the Lesbian and Gay Pride Day Committee in Toronto in 1981. Has authored several books on LGBTQ2 social history and Canadian federal government surveillance of marginal and dissident political and social groups. His notable works include 鈥淩egulation of Desire: Homo and Hetero Sexualities鈥 (1987), and 鈥淭he Canadian War on Queers: National Security as Sexual Regulation鈥 (2010).
