The Rector sits on a number of university and advisory committees, representing the student voice across a broad range of institutional matters. The Rector is an ex officio trustee on the Board of Trustees, an official observer of the University Senate, and typically attends the University Council Annual General Meeting as a guest. Additionally, the Rector serves as a non-voting, ex officio member of both the and the , maintaining close ties with undergraduate and graduate student governance bodies.
The Rector meets regularly with the Principal and Provost, typically once a month, to raise student concerns and discuss campus-wide issues with senior university administration. These meetings serve as a key point of communication between students and senior administration. If a student brings forward a concern related to their Queen鈥檚 experience, the Rector often raises it in these conversations. The Rector can also help facilitate direct dialogue by organizing meetings between students and university leadership. Throughout the year, the Rector also engages with other senior administrators as matters arise within their respective portfolios.
