The Tricolour Award is the most prestigious acknowledgement a student can receive at Queen’s University for distinguished service, leadership, character, and community impact during their time at Queen’s. As part of an effort to ensure transparency, fairness, equity and inclusivity, a committee has been assembled to review the nomination and selection processes and to assess any other concerns raised by the community.

Conduct an overview of award criteria nomination and selection processes

To answer specific questions as outlined below
Scope of Committee

Nomination Package: reviewing the number of letters required and page length of those letters.

Resume and Queen’s activities: evaluating the effectiveness of these documents and providing further clarification on their format or adjusting the requirement.

Award Criteria: discussing additional requirements, such as positive disclosure.

Committee training: considering whether members of the selection committee should be required to complete additional training, such as bias training.

For unsuccessful nominees: considering restraints in the chair’s ability to respond to inquiries and identifying the most effective way to address them.
