Members of the Queen’s community can give input on the new Multi-Year Accessibility Plan (2026-2031), building on the previous 2016-2025 plan.

Feedback can be given by visiting the Multi-Year Accessibility page on the Accessibility Hub site and filling out the Qualtrics form. Community members have until March 20, 2026, to submit their input.

The next iteration of the Multi-Year Accessibility Plan will commit to six priorities:

  • Institutional culture of accessibility (values, leadership, and shared responsibility);
  • Accessible services, systems, polices, and processes (how access is built into the institution’s infrastructure);
  • Information and communications (access to knowledge, communication, and participation);
  • Accessible physical environments (where access is physically made possible);
  • People and inclusion (the workforce, leadership, and students are all co-cultivators and agents of change); and
  • Teaching, learning, and the academic experience (learning, assessment, and academic participation).

The plan will be supported by annual reporting, cross-campus collaboration, and ongoing engagement with disabled community members. Progress will continue to be communicated through the Annual Accessibility Report, ensuring transparency, accountability, and opportunities for continuous improvement.

Public sector institutions, as required by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), must establish, implement, and maintain multi-year accessibility plans that are updated at five-year intervals. These plans outline strategies to identify, remove, and prevent barriers to accessibility across institutional operations, programs, and services.

The previous Multi-Year Accessibility Plan (2016–2025) focused on increasing awareness and understanding of disability, strengthening accessibility practices, and embedding accessibility considerations into institutional processes.
