Overview

GNDS Undergraduate Curriculum

We offer 3-year Bachelor of ARTS (BA) and 4-year Bachelor of Arts Honours (BAH) degrees, and the Certificate in Sexual and Gender Diversity.

The BA in Gender Studies is intended for students completing a three-year degree in Arts and Science. Students apply to the General degree after their first year in Arts and Science and should have completed either GNDS 120 or GNDS 125.

The BAH in Gender Studies can be pursued as a Specialization, Major, or Minor.

The BAH Specialization in Gender Studies provides an immersive academic experience in the field with an emphasis on feminist methods and research training. Students apply to the Specialization plan after their first year in Arts and Science and should have completed minimum one of the first-year Gender Studies courses: GNDS 120 and GNDS 125. Preference for enrolment in GNDS 440/3.0 Social Justice Practicum is given to students in the BAH Specialization Plan as it is a core requirement. The Social Justice Practicum provides a unique opportunity to directly experience and analyze the challenges of community involvement and activism. The BAH Major in Gender Studies is intended for students who would like a strong concentration in Gender Studies in combination with an equally strong concentration in another discipline or a double Minor in two other disciplines. The BAH GNDS Major option can be completed with most other departments in Arts and Science. Students apply to the Major plan after their first year in Arts and Science and should have completed either GNDS 120 or GNDS 125.

The BAH Minor in Gender Studies is available to students completing a Specialization or Major in another discipline. Students apply to the Minor plan after their first year in Arts and Science and should have completed either GNDS 120 or GNDS 125.
