The Human Rights and Equity Office (HREO) is seeking four (4) Student Ambassadors to support a pilot peer-to-peer outreach and engagement initiative during the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 terms. Ideally, we are looking to recruit an equal number of undergraduate and graduate students. Student Ambassadors will play an important role in increasing student awareness, accessibility, and engagement with HREO services, resources, initiatives, and educational programming related to equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, accessibility, human rights, and sexual violence prevention and response.
Working collaboratively in pairs, Student Ambassadors will engage with undergraduate and graduate students through club interactions, outreach and tabling sessions, classroom presentations, and social media engagement activities. This role is ideal for students who are passionate about community engagement, student leadership, equity, inclusion, and peer education.

Key Responsibilities:
Outreach and Engagement Activities
- Attend student club meetings, events, and outreach activities to promote awareness of HREO services and resources.
- Deliver short presentations and educational introductions about the HREO using engaging and interactive approaches.
- Participate in outreach and tabling sessions across campus to engage students in informal conversations and educational activities.
- Attend selected first-year classes and educational sessions to provide brief introductions on HREO services and support.
- Foster positive and ongoing relationships with student clubs, groups, and campus partners.
Peer Education and Awareness Activities
- Explain HREO services, supports, and initiatives in clear, approachable, and student-friendly language.
- Help address common misconceptions about HREO services and processes.
- Encourage students to explore HREO resources, educational opportunities, and support services.
- Share promotional materials and educational resources during outreach activities.
Social Media and Communications
- Develop social media or awareness content for HREO social media platforms.
- Contribute ideas for student-centered educational campaigns and outreach strategies.
- Support the promotion of HREO initiatives, events, and educational programming.
Program Administration and Reporting
- Participate in mandatory orientation and ongoing training sessions provided by HREO.
- Coordinate attendance logistics, as well as event set-up and take-down.
- Participate in bi-weekly check-ins with HREO staff.
- Keep track of engagement activities and submit Term Reports in November and April, summarizing outreach efforts, engagement outcomes, and key achievements.
- Collect student feedback and engagement data when appropriate.
- Consult and provide feedback on student ambassador educational materials.
Qualifications:
- Current undergraduate or graduate student at Queen’s University.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Interest and knowledge in equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, human rights, sexual violence prevention and response, student engagement, and peer education.
- Comfortable speaking with diverse student audiences in both informal and formal presentation settings.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Experience with student leadership, outreach, volunteer work, social media engagement, or campus involvement is considered an asset.
Time Commitment:
- A maximum of 75 hours between August 2026 and April 2027.
- Participation in occasional evening or flexible-hour activities may be required depending on event schedules.
Compensation: $19.15 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay.

Supervision:
Student Ambassadors will report to the Human Rights and Equity Office (HREO) and will work closely with HREO staff throughout the pilot initiative.
