When I ran for Rector in February 2024, I built an election platform informed by conversations with over 50 student and university leaders. Since then, I鈥檝e remained grounded in the commitments I made鈥攇rouped into three core areas: communication, well-being, and collaboration.
Queen鈥檚 commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals reflects an ambition to address the world鈥檚 greatest challenges. As Rector, my goal is to ensure we are just as focused on addressing Queen鈥檚 most urgent challenges鈥攕tarting with those that affect students every day.
Communication:
I am committed to enhancing the feedback loop between students and the Office of the Rector. Using my background and passion for media, I鈥檝e revitalized the Rector鈥檚 social media presence and launched new channels of engagement鈥攊ncluding a in the campus newspaper鈥攖o ensure students know how their voices are being represented.
Well-being:
Students are asking for a safer, more accessible campus鈥攑hysically, digitally, and emotionally. In the face of financial challenges and budget cuts, I鈥檓 working with campus partners to respond with concrete solutions. I am especially focused on supporting students from equity-deserving backgrounds and ensuring our recovery efforts are informed by their lived experiences and specific needs.
Collaboration:
Queen鈥檚 students are leading the charge on issues that matter鈥攚hether organizing conferences, tackling the Sustainable Development Goals, or building community through performance and advocacy. On any given evening, our campus is alive with activity, and I鈥檓 proud to use my platform to amplify these efforts. Whether it鈥檚 a campaign for global justice or a charity production that brings both joy and impact, I believe it鈥檚 my role to support and elevate student leadership in all its forms.
