Timetabling Tiers Request

The three tiers may be summarized as follows:

  • Tier 1 (of the highest order, where the employer may be required by law to accommodate a Member’s need);
  • Tier 2 (employer will make a reasonable effort to support the Member’s scheduling request);
  • Tier 3 (employer will consider the Member’s scheduling preferences).

Before completing a Tiers request form please review the definitions of Tier 1, 2, and 3 requests and process guidelines on the University Provost's webpage. You may also wish to review our Tiers Tool Information and Process Guide for FAS Heads and Instructors

Please note that Tiers requests pertain to the faculty member and not to specific courses. If you have multiple tiers requests, please fill in a separate form for each. Tiers requests must be submitted annually, and do not carry forward from one year to the next.

Where to Submit Each Tier:

  • Tier 1A: Send approved HR requests to asc.tiers@queensu.ca
  • Tier 1B, Tier 2A, Tier 2B: Submit using the form below
  • Tier 3: Departments enter Tier 3 preferences directly into the DCU

To ensure all requests can be processed before the DCU closes for the cycle in March, please submit all Tiers requests by Wednesday, February 28, 2026.
