Arts and Science is an integrated Faculty grounded in a strong sense of community and shared purpose. We are dedicated to innovative teaching and research, both within and across disciplines, and to fostering curiosity through collaborative engagement with diverse forms of knowledge in local and global contexts.

The Faculty of Arts and Science offers a number of 3-year Bachelor’s and 4-year Bachelor’s Honours programs. We have over 2,000 program options and our graduation rate is 89.1%, which is the highest among Canadian universities. In addition, over 90% of our graduates are employed within six months following graduation.

Whether you are still deciding what major you may be interested in, or want to apply to one of our direct entry programs, the Faculty of Arts and Science offers multiple pathways to achieving the higher education experience that you desire.

Flexible and Focused

Students at ��ɫ��Ƶ that are admitted into a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science experience a flexible AND focused first year. Through self-exploration, and while you settle into university life, you have the chance to explore courses and uncover where your real interests and opportunities for success are.

As a result, you get to “test-drive” your major! Arts and Science students have the opportunity to "try" out their areas of interest before committing to their major. You will select your degree plan (i.e. major) at the end of your first year. When you are beginning the registration process for your second year, you will be required to request your degree concentration.

Please note that many programs do have first year grade cutoffs required to proceed to second year. Please read the individual departmental regulations in the Arts and Science Academic Calendar for more information.

Kingston is a home-away-from-home not only for students from Queen’s but also for those attending the Royal Military College and St. Lawrence College – more than 30,000 in all! Described as both “quaint” and “eclectic,” Kingston is big enough to provide all the conveniences of modern life, and small enough for students, staff, and faculty to feel instantly comfortable and at home.

Queen’s is an integral part of the Kingston community, with the campus nestled in the core of the city, only a 10-minute walk to downtown where all the shopping, dining and recreational activities occur - there is always something happening in .

The City of Kingston is located in eastern Ontario, about 200 km from Canada's capital city of Ottawa, about 250 km from the centre of our provincial capital of Toronto, and about 300 km from Montréal, Québec. We are half way to everything - that's what makes Kingston perfect.
