Programming Overview

This is a list of all of the programming offered by Faith and Spiritual Life. Please see our Program Calendar to see if they are currently running or see our Instagram for updates. Our programming falls into three categories: Community, Spirituality, and Support.

Community

Cooking with Grammas: An Intergenerational cooking program where seniors from the wider community and students work together to cook and share dinner.

Knitting with Grandmas: A new program where you can learn to crochet or knit from grandmas in the community or bring your own project to continue among good company.

Knit Happens!: Drop-by for knitting and conversation. BYOP (Bring your own Project) or some supplies will be available.

Dungeons and Dragons: This group is for students who are feeling isolated and looking to find community and connection. We will be looking for 5-6 students to join fall sessions. Whether you have plenty or little experience, our experienced DM is happy to help! Registration will be made available on our events calendar and social media when spaces open.

Lego in the Lobby: Take a study break and build lego with FSL student staff in the Mitchell Hall Lobby.

Study Breaks: Watch our Instagram for Study breaks including Button Making, bocce, jigsaw puzzles, collaborative art, and more!

Crafternoons: Creative times for reflection and conversation

Snack Time: Drop by for a free cup of soup - while supplies last!

Cookies and Conversation: Meet our team, learn about our services, or just get a cookie and chance to step away from the fun and chaos of orientation week or the exam period.

Spirituality

The Voyagers Spirituality Group: A peer-led spirituality group for students seeking community who are interested in spirituality, meditation, and reflection. We hope to provide a fun and safe environment for students to explore and share concepts surrounding spirituality, religion, and philosophy. We wish to invite and inspire community and space which flowers ideas and perspectives. Ultimately, this is an attempt to cultivate loving compassion and realize our oneness!

Meaningful Meandering (wellness walks): A time for grounding and contemplation while moving together around our beautiful campus and waterfront.

Neurodivergent Spirituali-tea: (a collaboration with Yellow House and QSAS) an intersectional, queer- and disability-affirming program for students to explore neurodivergence from the lenses of of faith, peer-led support, and accommodations. QTBIPOC neurodivergent students will have the opportunity to gather around a different discussion topic every month.

Weight of the World: A weekly time for rest, prayer, contemplation and compassion for the world and ourselves.

Support

Grief Group: The Grief Group offers six weeks of support for those who have experienced the death of a loved one. Associate Interfaith Chaplain Heidi will work with the group to create a safe and brave space for sharing and listening, and explore ways to integrate our grief and loss into our lives. Registration required: chaplain@queensu.ca

The FSL Affirmations Project: Pop-up times and activities to help us speak kindly and encouragingly to ourselves.  This is your reminder that you matter, you are not alone, and that you are your own greatest ally.
