ROLE OVERVIEW

The Alumni Branch Communications and Marketing Lead is a volunteer leader who helps bring Queen’s alumni engagement to life in their city. Working collaboratively with a team of volunteer leaders, the Queen’s University Alumni Association (QUAA) Board of Directors, and Queen’s Advancement and Alumni Strategy staff, this role supports branch visibility and connection by promoting programs, sharing alumni stories, and amplifying opportunities to engage.

The Communications and Marketing Lead is responsible for implementing branch communications and promotion within Advancement-led brand and communications frameworks. With guidance and support from staff partners, and in close collaboration with the Co-President(s) and Area Leads, this role ensures branch communications are clear, welcoming, timely, and aligned with Queen’s values and brand standards.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communications Strategy: Develop and share engaging, timely content that keeps alumni informed, connected, and aware of upcoming opportunities.
  • Social Media Management: Maintain and grow the branch’s social media presence, ensuring messaging reflects Queen’s brand.
  • Program Promotion: Collaborate with Presidents and Area Leads to promote branch events, volunteer opportunities, and alumni stories.
  • Brand Alignment: Ensure all collateral, announcements, and materials maintain alignment with Queen’s Advancement guidelines.
  • Storytelling & Visibility: Highlight alumni achievements, post-event recaps, and branch impact moments to foster community pride.

KEY PARTNERS

  • Co-President(s): Align messaging priorities and ensure communications reflect branch goals and leadership direction.
  • Alumni Engagement Officer (Staff Partner): Receive brand guidance, approvals, and access to institutional channels and tools.
  • Volunteer and Operations Lead: Coordinate timing of communications around meetings, onboarding, and volunteer updates.
  • All Area Leads: Partner on event promotion, storytelling, and post-event impact content.
     

TIME COMMITMENT

Approximately 4–6 hours per month, with the potential for increased time during key event periods.
The Communications and Marketing Lead is appointed for a two-year term which may be renewed by the Branch and Alumni Strategy team.
