Lead, connect, and strengthen the Queen’s alumni community


ROLE OVERVIEW

The Alumni Branch Philanthropy and Partnerships Lead is a volunteer leader who helps to bring Queen’s alumni engagement to life in their city. Working collaboratively with a dedicated team of other volunteer leaders, the Queen’s University Alumni Association (QUAA) Board of Directors and Queen’s Advancement and Alumni Strategy staff, the Philanthropy and Partnerships Lead supports the branch’s ability to give back and build meaningful local connections. This role focuses on strengthening a culture of impact and community partnership through alumni activities, aligned with Advancement priorities.

This role helps foster philanthropic belonging by strengthening local alumni relationships, in close collaboration with Advancement colleagues who lead alumni engagement fundraising strategy, donor stewardship, and partnerships.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Philanthropy Integration: Ensure giving messages and impact moments are incorporated into branch programming.
  • Partnership Development: Identify and foster local partnerships and sponsorship opportunities that support branch programming.
  • Prospect Identification: Flag alumni interested in giving or deeper engagement for staff follow-up.
  • Program Coordination: Lead two philanthropy or partnership-aligned programs per year.

Note: Financial management, gift solicitation, and partnership agreements remain staff-led.

KEY PARTNERS

  • Co-President(s): Align partnership and philanthropy activities with branch priorities and program planning.
  • Alumni Engagement Officer (Staff Partner): Receive guidance on fundraising priorities, donor engagement, and partnership boundaries.
  • Communications & Marketing Lead: Collaborate on impact storytelling and partnership visibility.
  • Area Leads: Coordinate integration of partnerships or impact moments into programming.


SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Experience or interest in fundraising, peer-to-peer giving, or community-based fundraising initiatives (formal or informal experience welcome)
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Comfort discussing impact and giving (training provided)
  • Professional and collaborative approach
  • Interest in community partnerships

TIME COMMITMENT

Approximately 4–6 hours per month, with the potential for increased activity during program cycles. The Philanthropy and Partnerships Lead is appointed for a two-year term, which may be renewed by the Branch and Alumni Strategy team.
